Cozumel

Fury Catamaran Snorkeling and Beach Party

Port: Cozumel, Mexico
Sail aboard a 65-foot, state-of-the-art ocean catamaran that includes a stairway to the ocean, freshwater showers, shaded lounge with comfortable tables and seats, a spacious sun deck, a bar onboard, and two restrooms.
After receiving snorkeling instruction and equipment, put on your snorkel gear and immerse yourself into the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean. You’ll discover stunning coral formations and tropical fish. Crew members accompany you to point out special sightings.
After snorkeling, it’s all you can drink—soft dinks, beer, or margaritas—as your catamaran takes you to a private beach where you can enjoy Fury’s Aqua Park which includes kayaks, paddle surf boards, a water trampoline, water mats, Jungle Joe, Rock it and Platinum Aqua Glide Slide. Or if you prefer, just relax on a beach chair or swing in a hammock under a coconut tree. Enjoy a delicious burger for an additional fee.
On your return sail enjoy classic beach music and even some dancing with the crew if you choose.
Louise, gloria and I went on the excursion. It was fun and we had a good time but I found it pretty hard!  Either I'm getting old or I'm seriously out of shape!
Leave it to Louise to always find something to gamble on!
Great picture!!

Another line dance session this afternoon and then Gloria and I will be having dinner in the Teppanyaki restaurant as part of our speciality dining package
The dinner was OK but I have had better. If I had paid extra for it, I wouldn't have been too happy!

We met up with the rest of the group after dinner and hung out in one of the lounges for some impromptu line dancing. Enjoyed it much better than the formal sessions!

Random Thoughts

This is my first cruise without Charlie. It was really bittersweet. The Burial at Sea creramony was very nice. NCL staff was very accommodating and I appreciate all of my cruise mates that attended. It meant a lot to me

I hadn't been on a NCL cruise since the early 80s so I really had nothing to compare it to. The food was OK...not great. There was no lobster or shrimp cocktail in the main dining room and the specialty restaurants were good but not great!  I Guess I am comparing the food to either Princess orCelebrity but it's possible that they are not as good as they were when I was cruising with Charlie.

The ship layout was easy to figure out. The ship had just come from being refurbished. The cabin was comfortable. Bed was good! Air was good! Didn't see our cabin Steward but the cabin was taken care of well. Really,no complaints regarding the ship.

There were no Mah Jongg games on the ship!! That is a negative!!

The official line dance classes were pretty much a bust for our group. We did not know many of the dancing. We had fun line dancing several evenings to some of the bands

Gloria and I spent time in the casino.....both of lost a little money but had a good time.

All in all, we had a great time. The excursions were fun and the drink package was appreciated!!

Time is getting close

Starting to pack. This is only a 7 night cruise and I am only packing for one person.
Itsy is right where she always is when I start packing
Guess I haven't learned my lesson!  I still overpacked!!!

I thought it would be easier getting everything together. Guess I'm out of practice. On top of preparing for the cruise, I still have to clear up some loose ends from the last few months. I really need a vacation!!

Sea Day

Saturday, April 29th

Today it's the last day of our cruise!  This morning, some of us met met up at the Great Outdoors area to play one of Louise's games.  Then it was on to packing and getting ready for the last line dance lesson and party.

Our last dinner together in the main dining room.
Gloria's feet were swollen. Iced them up!

Suitcases packed.....outside the room.....ready for the trip home in the AM

Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Thursday. April 27th

View of the port from our balcony

Today, all 9 of us in our group are going on the "Roatan Fun-n-Sun Tour with Bodden Tours.  Charlie and I  toured with this tour company years ago when we stopped in Roatan. We enjoyed our day so I thought it would be day for this group

Come as Strangers, Leave as Friends...
Join others from your cruise ship for a nice cultural and sightseeing tour...and then an afternoon of Fun-and-Sun at West Bay Beach. Meet your Fun-n-Sun Guide, along with others from your ship, and begin your tour day in one of our air-conditioned tour vehicles. Your guide will share our unique landscape, local culture, as well as some Roatan/ Bay Island history. Your tour group will make several sightseeing stops along the way, allowing you to get outside of the vehicle for some outstanding photo opportunities. A stop at Roatan's Panorama Hill offers a wide open view of our island, villages and cruise ports. Some of the sights that we will share include: shipwrecks off the shoreline, the villages of Coxen Hole, French Harbor, Sandy Bay and West End, overlooks showing the jungles and coral reefs, etc.
As a special bonus, you will enjoy and 45-minute stop and free access to Victor's Monkey Business. Here, you can visit the monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, katamundi, parrots, island deer, and other animals, if you like. You will be albe to do some on-site souvenir shopping for Honduran products (including our mahogany crafts, wonderful coffee and vanilla!) If you'd rather relax on this short break, kick back on one of our hammocks or pic-nic tables surrounded by tropical trees and watch guests as they zip along on the Mayan Jungle Canopy overhead.

After a little more sightseeing, we will stop by West Bay Beach and the Bananarama Beach Resort. This is Roatan's most beautiful white sand beach, lined with resorts, restaurants and bars. This is a 2-hour stop and you will be able to explore the mile-long beach, snorkel, swim and relax! You will be provided with an arm-band allowing you access to a beach chair, restroom facilities and fresh water showers at Bananarama Resort! West Bay Beach, protected by the offshore reef, is a wonderful sea grass and rock-free beach with powder-soft sand unlike any other beach on Roatan...it is groomed and maintained daily. There are many water-activities available here, and you can rent most anything: kayaks, canoes, snorkel gear, jet-skis, parasail, bananaboats, etc. Or, you can always just relax and enjoy a cold beverage or a snack at one of the many restaurants or bars, including the tasty menu at Bananarama!

After your beach-break, we will load back up and do a bit more sightseeing on our way back to the cruise ship ports. Our Highlights tour is designed to allow for more shopping time in and around your dock upon your return.

-----------------------------------------------------

All 9 of our group went on this tour. We had a good time!  We started on a circle tour of the island. Our guide, Élan Woods, was very entertaining and informative.

Our happy group

Next it was on to visit the monkeys!!
The parrots were next
The sloths were next......
Then it was on to West Bay Beach and the Bananarama Resort

Gloria and I went to Cagney's Steak House for dinner. It was OK but I have had better!

At 9PM, we met with the cruise staff and were escorted to a private area of the ship where they conducted a service for Charlie's Burial at Sea. I didn't think I would cry but I did!  Martha, Toynah, Louise, Donna, Susie, Gail and Gloria came with me. I really appreciate their support. I'm sure Charlie was looking down with a big smile on his face!

Costa Maya, Mexico

Wednesday, April 26th

Maya Chan Beach Resort

Today, 7 of us......Martha, Tonyah, Donna, Linda, Ingrid, Gloria and I will be spending the day at the Maya Chan Beach Resort.  It looks like a lot of fun and was recommended by a past guest at the resort.

Description of the resort from the internet:

0ur all-inclusive beach break has been designed for the discerning cruiser who might not want to adhere to the strict regimen of a shore excursion. There is no need to rush off the ship to secure a spot in the shade, as this Costa Maya location reserves your spot ahead of time and holds it for you until you arrive. Our glass bottom kayaks are available for use all day, as well as our complimentary snorkel gear. Lunch is served fresh and hot off the grill, when you are ready to eat, not on a preplanned schedule.  Open bar
--------------------------------------------
The road out to resort was VERY BUMPY but the "resort" itself was nice but basic.Unfortunately, the seas did not cooperate!  There was so much sea grass blowing in that it not present a appealing idea to go in the water. We had a good time playing games, some line lancing and eating and drinking!
Nice relaxing fun day......
View of the beach......

We came back to the ship early afternoon to get ready for line dancing at 4PM.
Louise and Martha used our speciality restaurant voucher tonite for the French restaurant and said it was very good!!

We all went to the production show "Blazing Saddles". It was good but I fell asleep!  Too many late nights for me!!

Harvest Caye, Belize

Friday, April 28th

This is the last port stop of our cruise.  It is NCL's private island. We are only here from of 7AM to 1PM. It was SO HOT!!!!!  Gloria and I got off the ship for a little while to check it out
Tonyah and Gloria enjoying the beach
We headed back to the ship pretty early. This is the last port of the cruise. This afternoon is line dancing. I'm pretty much just watching. I don't know any of the dances
